Medical Malpractice

Medical malpractice is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, killing up to 100,000 people each year. Those who survive may suffer permanent disability, long-term health damage, and/or a more painful and extended recovery time. Treatment(s) that are a result of medical malpractice can be very expensive, and yet only a small percentage of victims pursue reimbursement.

Taking legal action while trying to recuperate or help a loved one recuperate from medical malpractice is an overwhelming prospect. However, this may be the only way that you can afford the necessary treatment and be able to provide for your family. Doctors and medical institutions have little incentive to improve their practices until more victims of medical malpractice pursue compensation due them because of the negligent actions of others.

Emergency room errors

In an emergency medical situation, every second counts. Every action or inaction can mean the difference between life and death or a permanent disability. Emergency room physicians and staff may fail to properly diagnose injuries which can result in immediate death. Errors that go unnoticed may lead to the return of a serious medical episode or to the progression of a harmful consequence.

Surgical Errors

Surgery is frightening, risky and carries inherent risks. Surgeons may make errors in the course of the procedure that cause serious, and sometimes fatal, injuries. Surgical error is not a normal, and not an acceptable risk of surgery. Many types of harm can be caused by surgical mistakes, some include removal of the wrong organ or limb, severe infection, and damage to nerves, muscles, or internal organs.

Anesthesia Error

Complications caused by anesthesia are among the normal risks of surgery; however, anesthesia error is avoidable and not an acceptable risk. Anesthesia error can lead to overdose, allergic reaction, pain and awareness during surgery, brain injury, and much more.

Medication Errors

Medication errors due to incorrect medication or failing to provide proper dosage can have results ranging in severity from minor to fatal. Poor packaging and labeling, inadequate policies and procedures, and failure to consider a patient’s medical history are just some of the causes of medication errors.

Diagnosis Errors

Delayed diagnosis, misdiagnosis, and complete failure to diagnose a medical condition or event are examples of diagnosis errors. Diagnosis error often leads to death or permanent disability in a person who could have recovered with proper treatment in a timely manner. The delay of a diagnosis or the improper diagnosis usually results in a more invasive and more painful treatment than would have been otherwise required. A misdiagnosis can lead to a person in perfect health undergoing dangerous, unnecessary treatments, sometimes changing their lives forever.

Birth Injuries

During a very special time in your life, birth injuries can turn this blessed occasion into heartbreak. This tragedy often brings life-long consequences for the children that survive. Birth injuries are preventable with the proper medical care and attention to the health of both the mother and baby. We have available labor and delivery nurses and OB/GYN's who are ready to review your chart to determine if you and your baby were given the required Standard of Care.
