Social Security Disability

If you are not able to work because of a physical or mental disability you may be entitled to receive Social Security Disability benefits. Disability can stem from many things such as diabetes, asthma, arthritis, depression, and other causes. Obtaining Social Security disability benefits can be a long and complex process for those who are unfamiliar with the law.

When evaluating your claim, Social Security Administration will consider your age, education, work history and disabilities in making their determination to deny or accept your claim. But it is not uncommon to be denied your claim on the first or second attempt. If an application is denied it can be appealed to a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge.

The Social Security Administration (SSA)) administers four different benefit programs for people with disabilities:

• SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance)
• Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• Disabled Widows and Widowers Benefits (DWB)
• Disabled Adult Child Benefits (DAC)
